Bible verses for strength
'Strength' in the Bible almost never means being the strongest person in the room. Look at who's saying these lines: a prophet whose whole nation is in exile, a king on the run, a man in prison, another man with a chronic problem he asked God to remove and didn't get. The word keeps showing up in the mouths of people who were, by any normal measure, losing.
That's worth knowing before you read on, because the promise isn't that you'll stop being weak. It's that weakness isn't the end of the sentence. Nearly every verse below has the same shape: I can't, and yet. The 'and yet' is where God comes in.
If you're at the point where you can't hold the day together, start with Isaiah 40 and Psalm 73. They were written by people who'd hit that point too.
29He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. 30Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; 31but those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

The whole psalm before this is a man being furious that bad people are doing fine while he suffers. This is where he lands. Not 'I feel strong now' but 'even while I fail, God is what holds me'.

'In the Lord' is the key. Paul doesn't say 'be strong'. He says be strong in someone else's strength, and then spends the next ten verses describing armor you didn't make.

Habakkuk spent the whole book arguing with God about why the wicked win. This is the last line. The verse before it says the crops have failed and the animals are gone, and he'll still rejoice. Deer's feet are for not slipping on cliffs, which is what his situation was.

What to actually do with these
Isaiah 40:31 says strength comes to those who wait, which is annoying when you want it now. But try it literally. Take one thing you're dreading, sit for five minutes before you do it, and say Psalm 138:3 as a request instead of a statement: 'I'm calling. Answer me. Put strength in my soul.' Then do the thing, tired. Most biblical strength shows up in the doing, not before it. If you're past that and genuinely can't function, that's not a strength problem, it's an exhaustion or depression problem, and the pages on being tired and on depression will serve you better than this one.

Questions people ask
What does 'I can do all things through Christ' actually mean?
Read the two verses before it. Paul says he's learned to be content whether he's well fed or hungry, whether he has plenty or nothing. Then: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' The 'all things' is that list. It's the strength to endure either extreme without falling apart, written from prison by someone who'd experienced both. It doesn't promise you'll pass the exam or make the team. It promises you can survive not making it. That's a smaller claim, and a more useful one.
How do I get strength from God when I feel nothing?
Most of the people in these verses felt nothing when they started. Habakkuk was arguing. The Psalm 73 writer was bitter. Paul was asking for a problem to go away. Feeling strong isn't the starting condition; asking is. Isaiah 40 says strength comes to those who wait, which means the gap between asking and receiving is normal, not a sign you've been ignored. Say the words anyway. Read one of these psalms out loud even if it feels fake. The feeling usually follows the practice, not the other way round.
Is it weak to ask for help?
Not by the Bible's definition. 2 Corinthians 12 is Paul, arguably the toughest person in the New Testament, saying he boasts about his weaknesses because that's where Christ's power shows up. Moses needed Aaron to speak for him. Elijah had to be fed by an angel before he could go on. Jesus asked three friends to stay awake with him the night before he died. The idea that strength means needing nobody isn't biblical. It's just pride wearing a gym shirt.
