About Bible for Gen Z
Bible for Gen Z is a free app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and this is its website. Both are made by Allegro Digital, a small independent studio. We are not a church, a denomination, a Bible society or a ministry, and we are not affiliated with one.
What the site is for
The site exists to be useful on its own. Verses for how you feel, a verse every day, the stories retold, every book explained, and honest guides for people who did not grow up with any of this. None of it is behind a download. The app is where the whole Bible lives in Gen Z language, chapter by chapter, with the original beside it, and where you can ask questions and keep notes. We say so where it helps, and we try not to say it more than that.
The translation
Every verse on this site and in the app's English mode is the World English Bible (WEB), a modern public-domain translation based on the American Standard Version of 1901. We use it because it is free to reproduce in full, it is a real translation made by people who read Hebrew and Greek, and it reads clearly. It is not the version your church probably uses; our guide to translations is honest about the differences.
Scripture on this site is never typed from memory. Each reference is looked up in the WEB text when the site is built, and a reference that does not exist stops the build. If you find a verse that reads wrongly, it is a bug, and we want to know.
The Gen Z versions
The paraphrase beside each verse is our own writing. It is a reading aid: the same meaning in current words. It is not scripture, it is not a translation, and it is never shown without the original next to it. The rules it is written to are public in the repository as a style guide: keep every claim the verse makes and add none, keep names and speakers, keep the tone, and read it against the WEB text before it ships. Where a passage is often misread (Jeremiah 29:11, Philippians 4:13), the note beside it says what it meant to the people it was written to.
What we won't do
- Pick a denomination or a side in a debate. Where Christians read a passage differently, the page says so.
- Pretend a hard passage is not hard. The book pages and stories take the difficult questions head-on.
- Tell you that faith replaces therapy, medication or a doctor. It doesn't, and any page that touches mental health says so plainly.
- Publish for the sake of publishing. Articles are written in batches and released on a schedule, one at a time, timed to when they are useful.
- Sell or share anything about you. The site sets no cookies unless you accept analytics where the law requires asking; the app has no account and keeps your notes on your phone.
Who writes it
Pages are written and edited by the Bible for Gen Z Editorial team at Allegro Digital, with the help of writing tools, against the style guide above and a lint that blocks filler, overclaiming and thin pages. The judgment about what to write, and whether a piece is good enough, is a person's.
Report an error
A wrong reference, a paraphrase that misses the meaning, a broken link, or something that reads as unkind: email [email protected]. Inside the app, every ask-anything answer has a one-tap report button.
