He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”
He told them, 'Watch out. Guard yourselves against wanting more and more, because a person's life isn't made of how much stuff they own.'
Someone had just asked Jesus to make his brother share an inheritance, and instead of adjudicating, Jesus warned the whole crowd. Wanting more isn't a rich person's problem. It shows up at every income level, and it always says the same thing: you'll be fine once you have a bit more. Jesus calls that a lie about what a life is made of.
Jesus, I keep thinking the next thing will settle me, so help me stop measuring my life by what I've got.

Not every request for your time deserves your time, and sometimes the most focused thing you can say is a polite, repeated no.
God, give me the clarity to know which interruptions matter and the nerve to decline the rest.
Say no to one thing today that would pull you off the work that actually matters.
